Arnold's Restaurant
One would expect that in Tel Aviv, a vibrant city that is constantly reinventing itself, you would be hard-pressed to find a modest venue to hang out in, without any pretensions, that simply loves people. But Arnold’s is resounding proof of the fact that there are still places out there that you can call home. And home is home - even if it has moved... The inveterate Arnold’s Restaurant was founded by Arnold Benish in 1962, as a labor of love.
“The Balkan Corner” was the name bestowed on Benish’s gem, a modest restaurant in a small, out-of-the-way shack on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, adjacent to the Gordon horse ranch, Sderot Rokach of today. Years later, his son, Yoav, decided to continue and preserve the family institution. He gave the venue a facelift, expanded the bar, and named the restaurant after his father - Arnold.
There is one thing Yoav did not touch: the infectious friendliness of its owner. Today, Benish Junior has found a new and quiet corner for Arnold’s Restaurant, among the sports fields of the Hadar Yosef neighborhood, 1962 meters from its previous location - the year it was opened. The Arnold’s of today is a small and agreeable bar restaurant and English pub rolled into one.
It’s decor is almost entirely nostalgia for bygone days, decked out with inviting designer sofas and chairs; and in the middle, Arnold’s big, stately bar. Arnold’s is frequented by revelers from the age of 25 who are treated to varied music from every era and to special screenings of sporting events (football matches, basketball games, cycling, etc.).
